Sit-ins against Sodexo at Universities (U.S.A.)
by United Students Against Sweatshops
I received the following report by e-mail and want to share it with you:
Nationally coordinated Sit-ins have occurred at 4 universities this spring semester as part of the Kick Out Sodexo campaign. Sodexo is an international food service management corporation that has contracts with over 600 US universities. The campaign aims to sever contracts with US universities to pressure Sodexo into union neutrality, to provide living wages and fair benefits to its over 180,000 employees in the United States and its almost 400,000 employees around the world. Sodexo represents the privatization of our schools, where labor previously done in-house is now being outsourced to multi-national food service companies like Sodexo.

May 23rd: 9 arrested at Ohio State University:
So far Pomona College has terminated its contract with Sodexo, Northeastern University denied Sodexo during their bidding process for a food service contractor, Western Washington terminated their 150 million dollar contract and over 50 year relationship with Sodexo, Regis University just opted for a different food service provider. All eyes on the University of Washington this week.
